The "official" WU ID for students is set up at the beginning of the study program and ends with the completion of the study program. However, identifiers are needed already before the studies (e.g. to register online for a study program) or even after the end of the studies (merit-based scholarship, graduation documents, etc.). For this purpose there is the WUniverse identifier based on simple email registration. Included are besides the student view also applications for administration, a view for "agents" (e.g. ExAc, which can create accounts for students and administrate them in a limited way), RPC interfaces for authentication as well as a full ZOPE integration.
